Deployed in strategic places in the municipality, the data collected on the air quality of Leioa are consulted from the transparency section of the municipal website and from QR codes distributed by streetlights and public transport. This is only the first step of the ambitious Smartcity project pursued by the Leiotarra Administration to achieve better environmental quality.

Air quality sensors make it possible to know the levels of air pollution in that environment. In the case of DEVLON EME+, the sensor analysis techniques are classified according to gases and microparticles in suspension:

  • Pollution gas sensor: These are sensors based on the electrochemical principle, where it has good selectivity and stability. O3, NO2, So2 and CO.
  • Sensor microparticles in suspension (PM): It uses the principle of laser scattering to detect dust particles in the air. PM2.5, PM10

The recommended points are industrial areas, areas with a lot of vehicle traffic, school or sports areas and green areas. The latter is used as a reference to the others. In order to protect ourselves from atmospheric pollution, various standards have been published whose objective is the reduction of polluting emissions into the atmosphere. By analyzing the level of contaminants, contamination can be prevented.

In addition, carefully monitoring the chemical composition of the air to certify that the levels of contamination do not exceed the recommended thresholds and transfer the data to the public, is an exercise in transparency and social responsibility.

The collected data is sent via Wi-Fi, LoRa, 4G or NB-IoT, depending on the needs of the environment. Later, from the web app, you can view the data in real time and consult its history.

[/et_pb_accordion_item][et_pb_accordion_item title="What is the useful life of the IoT SMARTCITY DEVLON EME device and how does its maintenance work?" icon_color="#000000" toggle_icon="3||divi||400" use_icon_font_size="on" icon_font_size="35px" _builder_version="4.19.0" _module_preset="default" body_text_color="#0f1720" body_font_size="18px" body_line_height="1.6em" custom_margin="0px|0px|0px|0px|false|false" custom_padding="|0px||0px|false|false" hover_enabled="0" border_width_all="0px" border_width_bottom="1px" border_color_bottom="rgba(0,0,0,0.5)" global_colors_info="{}" toggle_line_height="1.6em" closed_toggle_font_size="19px" closed_toggle_line_height="1.6em" toggle_font_size_tablet="" toggle_font_size_phone="18px" toggle_font_size_last_edited="on|phone" closed_toggle_font_size_tablet="" closed_toggle_font_size_phone="18px" closed_toggle_font_size_last_edited="on|phone" open="off" sticky_enabled="0"]

The DEVLON EME device incorporates 2 types of sensors. Electrochemical sensors for SO2, NO2 and O3 gases and laser scattering for particulate matter (PM). The electrochemical sensors used to measure common pollutants such as this have a useful life of around 2-3 years. However, this is so, since these are on the street and it is known that, under ideal conditions of humidity and temperature, they can last up to 11 years. Regarding the deterioration of the measurement, it should be noted that prolonged exposure to the gas being measured should not alter the accuracy of the sensor.

For its maintenance, it is recommended to install it in a favorable place at a height of about 3 meters. As well as the replacement of sensors every 3 years.
